Seller: beautaussiephones001 (503) 100%, Location: West Gippsland, Victoria, Ships to: AU, Item: 123485194437 On offer here is a 1970's Australian post office assembly Ericsson 'Ericofon', in the popular and attractive 'surf green' colour. This was one of the five standard colours issued in Australia. The phone's cord has '74' stamped onto the terminator sleeve - this indicates an assembly date of 1974. So it is a collectable P.M.G. version of the model. Cosmetic condition and technical order : This phone is generally in good and presentable condition, but as pictured it has a long crack on the back towards the bottom. No material seems to be missing from the damaged area and it may even be repairable by someone who has plastic welding chemicals. Fortunately for some this phone is being offered at a lower price and the said crack is not noticeable from the front at all. On the phone's base two of the chassis screws are loose, as pictured, and upon inspection I noticed that the corresponding metal screw retainer bracket is missing from inside the chassis. This may not be a problem if you use a small amount of soft glue or silicone to retain the screws in their sockets (that is what I would do ha ha). But finding a replacement screw retainer bracket may be more difficult. The cord has a small damaged area near the wall plug end (as pictured) - it appears to be a bite from an adventurous rodent, but fortunately the conductor wires themselves aren't damaged at all. Besides these problems the phone only has some minor abrasions and marks consistent with its age and fair use. I have cleaned the instrument but it would come up even better with some T.L.C. and a light abrasive cleaner may remove most of the above. It has some minor colour variation, likely caused by sunlight exposure during its service. Again this is only slight and it may also respond to a light abrasive cleaner. This phone is being sold as untested (I only have a NBN line which is not suitable for pulse dialing telephones like this one is) - and it may only be suitable for display or parts. If you are intending to actually use it, you may need to have it tested by a Technician for its suitability on your line. It has no leaking parts and it appears to be complete throughout. The dial spins freely and has a normal retraction time. The red switch-hook plunger ('hang up button') still presses in and returns freely. Besides the issues mentioned above, I think this is still a well kept and attractive example and would be great for an Australian telephones collection, or for 'retro' 1970's home decor. Postage details : This phone is over 500 grams including its cord, so the most economical postage will be in an Auspost 3 kg satchel. The phone will be very well packed and protected. The standard satchel postage will be $14.80 and an Express satchel postage will be $17.90 The Express post will only be a benefit if you are more than around 90 klm's from Warragul Vic. If you require an Auspost signature on delivery, please add $2.50 onto the total, which I will check before posting. Other postage options may be available upon request. Please view my other listings, where you will usually find other collectable Australian telephones and other related items of interest. Combined postage is very welcome on applicable listings which are ending within a week or so, and it will definitely save you some postage costs. Thanks for viewing and happy bidding!
